In 1987, Joel Otterson was the youngest artist ever chosen for a one-person
exhibition in the Projects Room of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Otterson, who was born in Los Angeles in 1959, spent most of his childhood in
Oregon, lived in New York City for eighteen years, where he established an
international reputation for his artwork. He now resides in the Cincinnati area.
The Cincinnati Art Museum recently purchased Otterson's, "The Peaceable
Kingdom: The Great Wall of China Made in America",
for its permanent collection
and he was comrnissioned to produce "The Donor Curtain" for the Playhouse in
the Park.
