ALBERT PALEY
Albert Paley is the first metal sculptor to receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Institute of Architects, the AIA’s highest award to a non-architect. His work has been praised for its intrinsic integration of art and architecture.

A distinguished artist for over 30 years, Paley creates work in various metalworking disciplines ranging from monumental sculpture to furniture.

Commissioned by public institutions and private corporations, Paley has completed more than 50 site-specific works. Notable examples include the Portal Gates for the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, the Portal Gates for the New York State Chambers in Albany, a plaza sculpture for AT&T in Atlanta and a 65-foot sculpture in downtown Rochester. He recently completed elaborate archways for the Cleveland Botanical Gardens and the St. Louis Zoo and is currently constructing an entrance gate for a chapel at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Paley’s work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York, The British Museum in London and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American Art in Washington.
